You Have Been Chosen

Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A

You have been chosen! St. Paul reminds us.

Our Father and Creator has chosen to love us and to create us in his image. He has chosen for us to live at this place and in this time. We may not know why, but he has!

Cyrus, the Persian King, was chosen in a special way by God in the first reading. This is wild! He’s a pagan king, they tend to think of themselves as gods, and yet: he was chosen for a particular time, place, and mission just as we have been. God has chosen each and every one of us to be born and to know his love.

So, let us give glory and honor, praise and thanksgiving to God, as the psalmist does today, and strive to love God with all of our heart and mind and soul and strength, because Our Lord has chosen us for his love.
