All week, one thing has stuck with me: Peter got out of the boat.
We get caught up in his sinking, but how much faith to get out? The storms were fierce. He was exhausted. “It is a ghost!” He heard.
But he got out.
Yes, as soon as he looked away from God, he sank. But he cried for help and Jesus was there.
The question for me and you: If we were in Peter’s place, would we have gotten out of the boat? Be honest with yourself and with God. If not - and I’m not sure I can say I would - why not? What is holding us back? What do we have more faith in than God?
Today and every day: let us strive to focus our eyes on Christ. Let us strive to put faith in him. As we prepare to receive Him today, let us offer ourselves, especially our fears and doubts, on the altar. And as he is lifted up before our eyes, may our hearts cry out, “LORD, SAVE ME!”
